anything from the airport is gonna be damn expensive.
its about 50-60 bucks from my house to JFK.
i don’t know if there is any public transport available there but you might want to check it out.

According to Hopstop.com, the one way fare will be about $21 for a 30 minute trip from the airport to the Raddison Martingue Hotel in Midtown, Manhattan. Taxis here charge by the meter rate, therefore the initial fare is $3. Once the meter is active, the fare goes up.
Please note, that total fare may be higher than stated, due to weather and traffic conditions.
I hope this information is very helpful. If you have any questions or need travel directions while in town, just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in the profile. I’ll be glad to help.
Good luck

Do you really need to be alone in a taxi? Supershuttle has door-to-door shared vans leaving from LGA to that neighborhood frequently, and drops you at your hotel for much less money than a taxi.

NYC cab fares can be a bit difficult to calculate because once the flag drops you get charged for the distance that you’re traveling or the time that you spend not traveling
Here’s the route that mapquest suggested and while I usually disagree with mapquest on just about everything >I have to say that this is the correct route
http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1qn=LGA&2c=New+York&2s=NY&2a=49+W+32nd+St&2z=10001-3811&2y=US&2l=40.748193&2g=-73.987964&2v=ADDRESS
Notice that it uses the Queens Midtown Tunnel which has an EZ Pass toll of $4.57
So lets use 9 miles as our basic distance
http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/passenger/taxicab_rate.shtml
$3.00 initial flag drop LGA
+
9 mi @$ 2.00 per mi= 18.00
_______________
$21.00
+
$4.00 tip @19%
___________
$25.00
+
$4.57 Toll >QMT
______________
$ 29.57
Call it $30.00
>>>
Notes :
NYC cabs charge by the ride and not the number of passengers so if you can find somebody heading to the ESB or MSG /Penn Station you can save a couple of bucks on cab fare
Do not hail a cab yourself at LGA ;a taxi dispatcher will do that for you.
It is illegal in for a NYC cabbie to deliberately get a passenger stuck in traffic or to chose a more expensive longer route -there however are longer routes that actually are cheaper.
This routing does not in any way require a cabbie to cross over Grand Central Parkway when leaving LGA .
Enjoy NYC

This hotel is at 32nd & Broadway. We took a taxi from LGA to 50th & Broadway at 3 PM and it was $24 + tip, and when we left we took it back to LGA at 9 AM for about the same price. As long as it’s not rush hour traffic the fare should be about that.
